The National Rugby League (NRL) has launched an immediate investigation into Saturday night’s clash between the Dolphins and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs following reports of suspicious on-field activity that could suggest potential match-fixing. The probe was triggered after irregular betting patterns and several questionable plays were flagged by integrity officials.
According to sources close to the investigation, multiple errors during key moments—combined with unusual player movements and decision-making—raised red flags. One particular sequence late in the second half, where the Dolphins appeared to deliberately concede field position, is under close review.
An NRL Integrity Unit spokesperson confirmed on Sunday morning that a full analysis is underway, including a review of player communications, betting data, and match footage. “The integrity of our game is paramount,” the league said in a statement. “We will leave no stone unturned.”
Neither club has been formally accused of wrongdoing at this stage. However, both the Dolphins and Bulldogs have pledged full cooperation with the investigation. Players and coaching staff may be interviewed in the coming days.
The NRL has dealt with match-fixing allegations in the past, but a formal investigation of this nature remains rare and serious. More details are expected to emerge soon.
