Kyle Larson’s highly anticipated “Double Duty” attempt has hit major roadblocks. After a promising start to the day with his Indy 500 debut, hopes were dashed when Larson was caught up in a wreck, effectively ending his shot at IndyCar glory. Undeterred, he made it to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600, but his luck didn’t improve. Just before the halfway mark of Stage 1, Larson lost control, hitting the wall and spinning out—a gut punch for Hendrick Motorsports and fans hoping for a strong rebound.

Despite the setback, the No. 5 team went to work. The damage was manageable, and they were able to repair the car, notably correcting the toe to restore drivability. The key question now: can Larson find the early speed he showed during practice and qualifying, and claw his way back through the field?

Track position is everything in a race as grueling as the 600, but Larson is no stranger to adversity. With strategic pit calls, a bit of luck, and Larson’s talent, a comeback isn’t out of the question. It’s been a rollercoaster of a day, and all eyes will be on the No. 5 to see if he can salvage a strong finish from a rough start.
