Raiders forward poised to ink new deal, reject move to expansion teams…..Read more ⬇️ ⬇️

Canberra Raiders back-rower Zac Hosking is set to sign a new two‑year extension that will keep him at Canberra through at least the end of 2028, effectively ruling out a potential move to any of the NRL’s proposed expansion teams (Perth Bears or PNG 2028) . Hosking has emerged as a mainstay in the Raiders’ forward pack over the past two seasons, cementing his place in the back‑row and forming a solid combination with teammates such as Hudson Young, Joseph Tapine, Josh Papalii and Morgan Smithies .

Key performance metrics from Hosking’s 2025 season highlight his impact: 13 appearances, four tries, two line‑breaks, three line‑break assists, an average of 92 running metres per game, and a total of 457 tackles . Since November 1, he’s been free to negotiate with other clubs, making the timing of this extension especially decisive .

With expansion teams eager to build their rosters, Hosking’s decision to re-sign in Canberra delivers a significant blow to their recruitment efforts. His commitment also underscores Canberra’s drive to retain foundational players during a phase of league-wide growth and change.

In summary, Zac Hosking appears firmly committed to remaining with the Raiders, with a new deal that both strengthens Canberra’s core and eliminates speculation linking him to expansion franchises.
