In a momentous tribute to one of dirt racingโs modern legends, Eldora Speedway has unveiled a life-size bronze statue of NASCAR and sprint car superstar Kyle Larson. The statue, crafted by renowned motorsports sculptor Lou Cella, captures Larson in his iconic post-race victory stance, helmet in hand, eyes lifted toward the grandstands.
The ceremony, held at Eldoraโs infield stage before a packed crowd of fans and fellow drivers, celebrated Larsonโs remarkable impact on the sport, particularly his dominance on dirt tracks across the country. Eldora, often called โThe House that Earl Built,โ has been central to Larsonโs dirt racing career, hosting many of his most electrifying performances.
Lou Cella, known for statues of sports greats like Harry Caray and Michael Jordan, said Larsonโs pose was chosen to symbolize humility and determinationโtraits that have endeared him to fans nationwide. The statue now stands permanently near the main entrance, alongside tributes to other dirt track legends.
Larson, visibly emotional during the unveiling, thanked the Eldora community, saying, โThis track made me. To be honored here means everything.โ The monument cements his legacy not just as a racer, but as a defining figure in modern American motorsports.
