In a headline-grabbing moment, former Oklahoma Sooners head coach and current Arlington Renegades leader in the United Football League, Bob Stoops, has sent a powerful message of support to current Sooners head coach Brent Venables. As Oklahoma prepares to enter a new chapter—transitioning into the SEC—Stoops emphasized unity, tradition, and trust in Venables’ leadership.
“I’ve known Brent for over two decades,” Stoops said in a statement released Thursday. “He understands what it means to be a Sooner—he’s been in the fire and knows how to lead through it. The move to the SEC isn’t just about tougher competition; it’s about showing who we are, and Brent is the right man to carry that torch.”
