In a heartfelt and timely message, former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops, now leading the Arlington Renegades of the United Football League, reached out to current Sooners head coach Brent Venables with words of encouragement and support. As the Sooners gear up for a pivotal season—one that marks their transition into the SEC—Stoops made it clear he’s still watching closely and rooting for the program he helped build into a national powerhouse.
“Brent’s the right man for the job,” Stoops said in a recorded message shared by the Renegades. “Oklahoma football is in good hands. He’s got the culture, the fire, and most importantly, the heart. I’m proud of what he’s doing and I know the fans are too.”
Stoops, who coached the Sooners from 1999 to 2016 and briefly returned as interim coach during the 2021 Alamo Bowl, emphasized unity and resilience as key ingredients for success in the challenging SEC landscape.
