In a powerful move blending philanthropy with purpose, Oklahoma Sooners softball star Jayda Coleman has announced a groundbreaking $8.5 million investment to convert abandoned and foreclosed houses into safe shelters for homeless youth. The initiative, titled “Home Base”, aims to restore dignity and stability to thousands of vulnerable teens across Oklahoma and beyond.
Coleman, known for her leadership on the field, is now stepping up as a leader in social change. “These kids deserve more than just survival — they deserve a future,” she stated during the announcement. The project will initially focus on neighborhoods in Norman, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City, with plans to expand nationwide.
The shelters will offer more than a roof — each home will include access to counseling, education support, job training, and mentorship. Jayda’s mission is to ensure youth don’t just have a place to stay, but a place to grow.
