Canberra Raiders co-captain Elliott Whitehead has urged his teammates to stay grounded and focused after their impressive 28-12 victory over the St George Illawarra Dragons, which keeps their dream 2025 NRL season rolling. The Raiders have now won five of their last six games, firmly placing themselves in the top-four conversation as finals approach.
Whitehead, playing in his final NRL season, reminded the squad not to get complacent.
“We’re in a good spot, but we can’t take it for granted,” he said. “We’ve worked hard to get here, and we need to keep building.”
Canberra’s youthful spine continues to impress, with fullback Xavier Savage and halfback Jamal Fogarty combining well in attack. The forward pack, led by Joseph Tapine, laid the platform with brutal physicality, dominating the middle against a Dragons outfit that struggled to match the intensity.
Coach Ricky Stuart praised the team’s discipline and cohesion, noting the importance of maintaining momentum during the critical late-season run. With a tough stretch of fixtures ahead, including matches against top-eight contenders, the Raiders are well aware that consistency will be key.
“Everyone’s buying in,” Stuart said. “But we’ve got more to prove, and it starts again next week.”
