Ian Wright slams ‘soft’ Arsenal after shock defeat to Bournemouth
Arsenal legend Ian Wright didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Gunners after their disappointing 2-0 loss to Bournemouth, calling Mikel Arteta’s side “soft” and questioning their mentality in the Premier League title race.
The defeat at the Emirates was a major setback for Arsenal, who missed the chance to reclaim top spot from Manchester City. Goals from Bournemouth’s Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi exposed defensive frailties, while Arsenal’s attack lacked its usual sharpness.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Wright expressed his frustration: “This is the kind of performance that makes you question whether Arsenal have the toughness to win the league. They were too soft, too predictable. Bournemouth wanted it more, and that’s unacceptable at this stage of the season.”
With just a few games remaining, pressure is mounting on Arteta’s men to respond quickly. If they want to lift the title, they’ll need to show far more resilience—starting with their next match.
