“I’d be paying a fine”: Flanagan slams no try call, says Dragons should have won

St George Illawarra Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has blasted a controversial no-try decision that he believes cost his side a crucial win. The Dragons went down narrowly in a tense clash, but a disallowed try late in the game left Flanagan furious.

“I’d be paying a fine if I said what I really think,” Flanagan told reporters post-match. “We scored that try – plain and simple. Everyone saw it.”

The incident occurred in the final minutes when the Dragons appeared to cross the line, only for the bunker to rule no try due to a supposed knock-on. Replays showed minimal contact, leading to confusion and frustration among fans and players alike.

Flanagan said the call swung the momentum and potentially changed the outcome. “We did enough to win that game. That one call took it away from us,” he added.

The Dragons have struggled for consistency this season, and the loss further complicates their finals hopes. While Flanagan stopped short of outright criticising officials, his frustration was evident.

“You work so hard all week, and then something like that happens. It’s hard to take

,” he said.
