Apisai Koroisau has weighed in on the speculation surrounding Jarome Luai’s potential departure from the Penrith Panthers, admitting it would be a significant loss for the club but backing Luai to do what’s best for his future. Speaking ahead of the Panthers’ upcoming clash, the Wests Tigers hooker—who played alongside Luai in Penrith’s premiership-winning sides—praised the five-eighth’s competitiveness, leadership, and influence on and off the field.
“Jarome’s got that fire in him that lifts the team. He’s not just a great player—he’s a culture guy,” Koroisau said. “Wherever he goes, he’ll make an impact.”
Luai remains off-contract for 2026 and has drawn interest from several rival clubs, with big-money offers reportedly on the table. While Penrith are keen to keep their star playmaker, salary cap pressures may force a tough decision. Koroisau, who himself left Penrith for a starting role and leadership opportunity at the Tigers, understands the dilemma.
