In a remarkable show of generosity and commitment to the next generation, Kentucky basketball legend Kenny Walker has donated $5.8 million to the University of Kentucky’s Youth Basketball Development Program. The donation, announced by the University’s Athletic Department, is one of the largest individual contributions in program history.

Walker, a former All-American and NBA standout affectionately known as “Sky Walker” for his incredible leaping ability, said he wants to give back to the community and inspire future athletes. “Kentucky basketball gave me so much. It’s time to give that opportunity to others,” Walker stated.

The funds will be used to expand current youth training camps, upgrade facilities, and launch mentorship and academic support programs across the state. A portion of the donation will also go toward building new indoor courts and providing equipment to underserved communities.

University officials expressed deep gratitude for Walker’s contribution, noting it will have a lasting impact on young athletes both on and off the court. The initiative aims to reach thousands of children annually, instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and education through the game of basketball.

This gift further cements Walker’s legacy—not just as a basketball star, but as a champion for youth development.
