Netflix has officially announced the premiere of Late “Bo’s Legacy,” a compelling new documentary series chronicling the legendary 21-year reign of Bo Schembechler, the iconic head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines football team. Set to debut on September 15, 2025, the series promises a deep dive into one of college football’s most influential eras.
Spanning multiple episodes, Bo’s Legacy explores Schembechler’s transformative impact on the sport, his fiery leadership style, and the cultural and institutional evolution he spearheaded at Michigan. Through never-before-seen archival footage, exclusive interviews with former players, rivals, and historians, and insights from Bo’s family, the documentary paints an intimate portrait of the man behind the legend.
Schembechler, who coached from 1969 to 1989, amassed a record of 194–48–5 and won 13 Big Ten championships. The series doesn’t shy away from controversy, either, delving into the complexity of his legacy amid shifting societal landscapes and evolving athletic standards.
