Following the surprise departure of Johannes Hoff Thorup in April, Norwich City has intensified its search for a new manager ahead of the 2025/26 season. One prominent name linked is Pep Lijnders, recently departed from Liverpool after serving as Jürgen Klopp’s long-time assistant. However, there are concerns about whether Lijnders is ready to step into a lead managerial role, particularly in the demanding environment of the Championship, where promotion ambitions weigh heavily.
Another candidate reportedly under serious consideration is Liam Manning, currently at Bristol City. Manning has gained praise for his possession-based style and his work developing young talent, aligning well with Norwich’s long-term vision. However, his current contract and interest from other Championship clubs could complicate a potential deal.
Meanwhile, Thorup, who left Carrow Road after just six months in charge, has now been linked with a swift return to management with QPR. The Danish coach’s brief but progressive stint at Norwich impressed some observers, and QPR appears ready to give him another chance in the English game.
Norwich are expected to make a decision in the coming weeks, with pre-season looming and pressure mounting to build on last season’s mid-table finish.
