The Canberra Raiders have officially confirmed a new contract extension with key back‑rower Zac Hosking, keeping him at the club through the end of the 2028 season . Originally under contract until 2026, Hosking has added two more years to his stay, solidifying his role until 2028.

Hosking described the extension as an “easy decision”, citing the “very bright future” that lies ahead for both him and the Raiders . Having struggled through injuries in 2024, he is now on a strong run in 2025 after playing 13 games so far. “I’ve come out the other side of adversity and I’m happy to be stringing games of footy together,” he said .

Coach Ricky Stuart praised Hosking as a model case of a player seeking opportunity and converting it into form: “He came to the club looking for a chance to be a regular NRL player…and he’s shown us that’s exactly what he is,” highlighting Hosking’s versatility and work ethic .

With Canberra strategically retaining a strong mix of “youth and experience”—including the likes of Tapine, Young, and Starling—Hosking expressed pride in being part of a club with such balance . His decision to reject interest from looming expansion teams underscores his belief in Canberra’s growing potential and his role within it.
