NSW Blues legend Andrew Johns has backed Dominic Young for a State of Origin recall, praising the towering winger’s speed and finishing ability. After being overlooked for the first two games of the 2025 series, Young’s standout performances for the Sydney Roosters have reignited calls for his inclusion in Game III. Johns believes Young’s size and athleticism offer a point of difference the Blues need, especially with the series already lost and the focus shifting to blooding talent for the future.
“Dom’s been outstanding — he’s a threat every time he touches the ball,” Johns said. “He’s earned another shot.”
Meanwhile, the Gold Coast Titans have made sweeping changes ahead of their Round 19 clash, dropping several underperforming players as they look to salvage a disappointing season. Kieran Foran has been shifted to the bench, with Tom Weaver handed the reins at halfback in a bold reshuffle by coach Des Hasler.
