The English Football League has seen some truly baffling transfers over the years. From Premier League stars dropping down to obscure loan spells to global icons arriving out of nowhere, here’s a look at 15 of the most bizarre EFL signings.
One standout is Edgar Davids joining Barnet as player-manager in 2012 โ the former Juventus star donning the No.1 shirt (as a midfielder!) stunned fans. Jay-Jay Okocha lighting up Hull City in 2007 also raised eyebrows, as did Benito Carbone turning out for Bradford City.
Perhaps the strangest of all? Julio Arca swapping Sunderland for South Shields after injury โ only to come back stronger in non-league and rejoin the EFL with Hartlepool. Then there was Park Ji-sungโs surreal QPR move, briefly making him a Championship player.
