A Privilege to Wear the Jersey: Borthwick Backs Debutantes Ahead of Raiders NRLW Opener

Canberra Raiders NRLW head coach Darrin Borthwick has thrown his support behind the club’s debutantes, calling it a “privilege” to represent the jersey as the team prepares for its highly anticipated season opener. With a number of new faces set to take the field, Borthwick expressed confidence in the young players’ ability to rise to the occasion.

“We’ve worked hard during pre-season, and these girls have earned the opportunity,” Borthwick said. “It’s a massive moment, not just for them individually, but for the club and our supporters.”

Among the debutantes are several rising stars who have impressed during trials and training. Borthwick believes their inclusion will bring fresh energy and hunger to the side. “Wearing this jersey means something. It’s not just about playing footy—it’s about pride, commitment, and representing the Raiders community.”

As the Raiders gear up for their opening match, expectations are high. Borthwick remains focused on building a cohesive, resilient team. “We’re excited to get out there. It’s the start of something special.”

The NRLW clash will mark another milestone in the Raiders’ continued growth in women’s rugby league, and Borthwick is confident his team is ready to meet the challenge.
